Final lap

Hi Mates,

To be honest, the timing was perfect. After sailing last summer nonstop over the north Atlantic from Plymouth to Kolding, the COVID crisis kicked in full power. I didn’t saw Lifgun since then again because of travel restrictions. From September till November we did a feasibility study with the guys from Pegasus Yachts to figure out if a Pegasus 50 will meet my expectations. From November on the building phase started and she is now in her final lap, still landlocked in Jesenice Slovenia, before she will travel by truck to the sea end of this month. The commissioning started already and will take place until she did her first shakedown cruises in the Adriatic.  Maybe (in some points), she is a bit over the top – we integrated lots of innovation into her.  The trigger was the Oceanvolt propulsion. To change the propulsion means to change all other systems, from the hot water generation to the heating. As soon as Lifgun is afloat, I will give you more detailed descriptions of the systems and how they (hopefully) work together. So far I’m still positive and have started already thinking where to sail her, first trip is for sure to Venice. After that, we will see, still observing the development on the COVID front.

Maybe you remember that my intention was to take part in the 2020 OSTAR race (Plymouth to Newport (RI) – the same race will be held now in May 2022 and Lifgun is registered for then. Sometimes things just regulate themself….I’m totally excited to sail that race in 2022 and I hope that I’m able to do enough practice miles until then. So…life turns normal slowly and Lifgun will be underway again somewhen in July.

June 13, 07.15 UTC, landlocked in Zürich, Switzerland.
